The Point Zone Match Up Defense is adapted from information on the North Carolina Point Zone used by Coach Dean Smith when he was coaching.
Point Zone
Basic
Rules
1 and 4 are partners.
2 and 3 are partners.
The zone always has a point
player pressuring the ball. The point has
his heels on the three point line when the ball is at the top of the
key. The point has his toes on the three point line when the ball is on
the wing or in the corner. If a shooter demonstrates that he has more
range, we will adjust for that shooter by extending the defense to push
him just slightly out of his range.
